Velohub is a logistics company transforming urban deliveries by focusing on sustainable solutions supported by advanced data analytics and modeling.

We use mobile, modular microhubs and cargo bikes to streamline logistics, create an intermediate mile and a new last-mile distribution model, reduce city congestion, and lower emissions. Through in-depth data analysis and traffic flow modeling, we optimize microhub locations and delivery routes.

We collaborate with city authorities, utilizing traffic data to address local needs while combining practical solutions with regulatory requirements. We believe this approach helps build greener, more efficient, and modern cities.

Velocity was founded in 2017 out of a passion for bicycles, focusing on serving local businesses that value eco-friendly solutions.

For three years, the company delivered products from health food stores, dietary catering services, and acted as a distributor for the Wrocław EcoBazar. These were the first cargo bike deliveries in Poland conducted with a three-wheeled cargo bike.

Velocity was a partner in a project funded by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), which enabled the company to begin cooperation with DPD Poland as the first bicycle carrier in the country.

The collaboration started with just one bike and eventually expanded to seven within two years. Thanks to the success of the pilot project, DPD decided to purchase its own fleet of cargo bikes, and we were invited to implement this fleet.

We began working with DPD Poland as Regional Coordinators for the Implementation of the Cargo Bike Fleet.

Our responsibilities included:
• Developing processes and procedures for the operation of cargo bikes and electric vehicles.
• Managing the introduction and ongoing operations of eco-friendly policies in city centers.
• Developing a recruitment strategy to create a new team of bicycle couriers.
• Collaborating with cargo bike manufacturers on research and development to ensure reliable,
ergonomic, and effective tools for couriers. The project resulted in the creation of the largest cargo bike fleet in Europe — 112 bikes across 25 cities in Poland.
• Cooperation with local authorities.
• Developing and overseeing a network of urban branches serving as prototype microhubs for the company.

12.2024

Opening of the GRETA Project in Poznań

In December 2024, the first standalone transshipment microhub in Poland was launched on Pułaskiego Street in Poznań. This eco-friendly solution, tested as part of the GRETA project, carried out by Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology in cooperation with EU partners, enables parcel deliveries by cargo bikes in the city center.

The microhub, built from recycled materials and powered by solar energy, supports sustainable urban transport. The pilot project will run until spring 2025, providing data on the efficiency and emissions of such deliveries.

  • Location: Pułaskiego Street, Poznań – a well-connected yet secluded spot.
  • Ecology: Constructed from recycled materials, powered by photovoltaic panels.
  • Cargo Bikes: 4 electric bikes, each covering routes of 15-20 km.
  • Process: Parcels are delivered from the logistics center to the hub, then distributed to recipients by bike.
  • Goal: Testing eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions for urban deliveries.
  • Pilot Project: Running from December 2024 to spring 2025 as part of the GRETA project.
